I’m a proud Wisconsinite, and I have called the 7th Assembly District home since 2008.
My journey is defined by a commitment to service and advocacy. I was raised in a United Steelworkers household. My father often shared memories of the post-Depression era and the pivotal role that unions played in reshaping our family’s life for the better.
My career started in advertising, marketing, and PR at a nationally acclaimed agency, collaborating with industry luminaries on global brands. I also earned an Associates degree at MATC, and a Bachelor’s degree at Mount Mary University. I learned how to communicate and be strategic, and now I am using those skills to champion a progressive agenda and fight for a better world.
Hi, I’m Karen Kirsch.
Most important to me is healthcare. My passion for healthcare reform is deeply personal, stemming from a negative encounter with the inadequacies of the system at a young age. I was denied coverage due to a pre-existing condition, and realized that our healthcare system is simply immoral.
My view is pretty simple — I think healthcare is a right, not a privilege, and I am dedicated to fixing our broken healthcare system.
Our healthcare system doesn’t work for the families it aims to serve, nor for the caring healthcare professionals who work within the system. Everyone spends too much time securing insurance company approvals just to get care.
I think things should be different – our doctors, nurses, and healthcare providers should determine the care we get, not faceless insurance company bureaucrats.I live in Greenfield with my partner Robert Hansen, our daughter Abigail (I’m her stepmom!), and our beloved dogs.
